Turbine Condensers
The performance of a turbine condenser is a significant factor in the overall operational efficiency of a power plant. Improper and outdated tube bundle layouts limit condenser and turbine back pressure and thus the electrical output of the plant.
- Number one provider in Germany and one of the premier suppliers worldwide
- Engineering and manufacturing experiences gained in more than 100 years
- Production for any type of steam power plant from approx. 50 to 1400 MWe
- Supply of more than 400 condenser units since 1950 arranged below or beside the turbine
- Surface areas up to 45000 m² per shell
- Special applications as nuclear, deaerating, geothermal and multi-pressure condensers
- Patented high-performance tube bundle design (TEPEE) for uprating of existing power plants
- Balcke-Dürr's surface condensers are characterized by a performance-optimized, erosion resistant and vibration safe tube bundle design (TEPEE) with an almost ideal flow field that permits both steam and air to readily penetrate the tube bundle with minimum achievable pressure drop.
- The high-performance TEPEE-type condenser requires less heat transfer area for a given condenser pressure and achieves lower condenser pressures for a given heat transfer area than HEI's Standard for Steam Surface Condensers predicts.
- By replacing outdated condenser tube bundles in existing power plants, the TEPEE technology can enable considerable efficiency rises with pay-back times less than 5 years and thus provides a valuable contribution to noticeable profit increases, reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and primary energy savings. For example, the new condenser bundles at the 2 x 1350 MW nuclear power plant Gundremmingen (Germany) increased the electrical output by 2 x 13 MW.
- Proven in-house thermal design software and most modern 3-dimensional CAD tools are utilized to engineer optimal condenser solutions for any kind of customer needs. Own factories are located in Germany and South Africa using highly efficient manufacturing procedures according to stringent quality assurance programs.
- Condenser service portfolio comprises failure analysis, lifetime prognosis, performance studies, retubings, replacements, refurbishments and upgrades.
